Nordic Workshop: Design and construction of sustainable concrete structures: causes, calculation and consequences of cracks

Arranged by the two Norwegian research projects: DaCS (1) and The Coastal Highway Route E39 (2)

The participants of two ongoing Norwegian research projects, Durable Advanced Concrete Structures (DaCS) and The Coastal Highway Route E39, have the pleasure of inviting you to a Nordic miniseminar within the topic design and construction of sustainable concrete structures: causes,
calculation and consequences of cracks in Oslo, Norway, which is to be hosted by Multiconsult on behalf of the two projects. The purpose of this seminar is to present and discuss findings from the aforementioned research projects and similar research activities, and relate this to practical
applications and standardization, as well as identifying the need for  further research.

Ongoing activities and subtopics related to the aforementioned research projects are i) Crack risk assessment of concrete structures at early ages, ii) Crack width calculation methods for large-scale concrete structures and iii) Impact of cracks and relevance of crack width requirements. The seminar will consist of keynote lectures on the relevance of the research projects, in addition to presentations within the respective topics.

(1) Durable advanced Concrete Structures. Increase knowledge of sustainable and competitive reinforced concrete structurers in harsh environments funded by The Research Council of Norway and industrial partners. The DACS partners are Kværner AS (project owner), Axion AS (Stalite), AF Gruppen Norge AS, Concrete Structures AS, Mapei AS, Multiconsult AS, NorBetong AS, Norcem AS, NPRA (Statens vegvesen), Norges teknisk-naturvitenskapelige universitet (NTNU), SINTEF
Byggforsk, Skanska Norge AS, Unicon AS, and Veidekke Entreprenør AS.

(2) The Coastal Highway Route E39. Development of a ferry free coastal high way route (1100 km) funded by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration.

Extended abstract: Deadline for submitting an abstract (max 200 words) within the respective subtopics is August 15th . Please send your abstract to Reignard Tan at reignard.tan@multiconsult.no.
A notification of abstract acceptance will be given no later than August 31st. Deadline for submitting extended abstract (max 2 pages) is September 20th. Author instructions can be found at

Registration: Deadline for registration is June 30th, 2019. You register by confirming your participation in an e-mail (including invoice address) to Linda Belsvik Johansen at linda.b.johansen@ntnu.no.
The registration fee is NOK 1500,- (includes seminar, seminar dinner,
lunch and proceedings). An invoice will be sent after the seminar.

Dinner and Hotel: The dinner will be at a restaurant close to the venue, at 7:30 PM October 16th.
Please inform about your participation for the dinner and allergies when registering for the workshop.

Scandic Sjølyst Hotel, which is a 5-10 minutes walk from the venue and 3 minutes by train to the city centre is recommended.
